Persimmon harvest celebrated in Xuanwei, NE Yunnan
Tourists and visitors get together to eat traditional Long Table Banquet in Xuanwei.
Thousands of tourists from all over Yunnan flocked to Xize, a township of Xuanwei city sitting in the province's northeast side, last weekend.
Xize is particularly famous for its cultivation of persimmon, an edible fruit common in East Asian countries, notably China, Japan and South Korea. A myriad of persimmon fruits have ripened recently, as the autumn comes.
Tourists and visitors joined the local Yi ethnic people to celebrate the harvest of persimmons by singing, dancing and enjoying the traditional Long Table Banquet together.
A part from persimmons, the township is also abundant in white sugar, bamboo as well as water resources.
Recently, Xize is dedicated to developing and branding its agro-tourism and agritainment.
Considerable efforts have been made by the township government, with an aim to improve local tourist facilities and services, and accelerate the socio-economic development of Xize in general.
