Chinese noodle specials: Which is your favorite?

Noodles are favored in China for it’s easy to cook, eat and get nourished from the noodles that can be taken either as staple food or a snack. Chinese noodles are rich in varieties.

According to historical evidence, the noodles originated in China, and they have a history of more than 4,000 years.Here are some Chinese noodle specialties, among which you may find your favorite.

Sanxia noodles, the luxurious

The Sanxia noodle is one kind of flour snacks in Shanghai and Suzhou area in east China. “Sanxia” is a topping made of the shrimp roe, brain and meat.

There are two ways to eat the noodles: One is noodles with soup, and the other is noodles served with soy sauce. The soup noodles taste fresh while the sauce noodles are thick. Both are delicious.

Weishan noodles, the longest



The Wenshan noodle represents longevity. A single long noodle makes up a bowl of noodles. The noodle dates back to the Nanzhao period (738-902), and it is a traditional snack in Weishan County, west Yunnan’s Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture.

Making a 1,704-meter-long noodle in 2011, Weishan folks set a Shanghai Guinness World Record on noodles. 

Misua paste, the slimmest 

Misua paste is endemic to southern Fujian. It is made of very thin noodles, and is soup-like. Misua paste is fresh and delicious. And it tastes better when served with halide fatty intestine and marinated egg.

Biangbiang noodles, the biggest

The Biangbiang noodle is the biggest noodles in China. And the word “biang” has the maximum strokes in Chinese characters. A largest bowl is used to serve the noodles, evoking a sense of fullness among diners.

Noodles of international fame 

Wuhan noodles 

The Wuhan hot-dry noodle is one of the top ten famous noodles in China. The thin and chewy noodles, as well as the fragrant and delicious sauce, are appetizing.

In recent years, the Wuhan noodles have gained popularity home and abroad.

Lanzhou noodles

The Lanzhou beef noodle is also a top ten noodle snacks in China. It is known to the world for its bright hot soup, soft beef and chewy noodles.

Now, canteens of the Lanzhou beef noodles are visible around China or elsewhere in the world.

Chongqing noodles

The Chongqing street noodle is a kind of spicy ones without meat topping. Seasonings are essential. The noodles are sort of chewy, smooth and intensely delicious. Overseas tourists in Chongqing enjoy the noodles a lot.
