Black-boned chicken sold to mega Chinese cities

Because of its tender and nutritious meat, the black-boned chicken is a traditionally favored food in northeast Yunnan’s Yanjin County, which lies near the ancient southern silk road originating in Chengdu City.

Starting in 2020, the county raised the chicken in bulk in a bid to increase local income, and a number of chicken houses were thus jointly built up in the mountainous region by villagers, companies and rural cooperatives.

By the end of the year, the county produced 2.28 million chicken with a sales of 200 million yuan, many of which were sold to Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing and others. A total of 6,530 villagers joined the chick-rearing program and benefitted from it.
