Updated:2021-11-19 17:31:59

When you look over from the Ailao mountain tops in a winter morning, the Hani rice terraces in southern Yunnan’s Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture may be shrouded in clouds, showing visitors a fantasy sight.

The Hani rice fields are located on the southern banks of the Honghe River, with its landscape marked by spectacular terraces that cascade down the slopes of the mountains to the banks of the river.

The terraces follow the rules of nature, incorporating forests, villages, rice fields and water supply. The scenery of terraces varies in four seasons, and even different in a day. In 2013, Hani rice terraces were listed as a world-heritage site.
