Burmese grape harvest hits full swing in Jiangcheng

Updated:2021-08-12 18:46:23

August is the fruitful season in Jiangcheng Hani and Yi Autonomous County, south Yunnan’s Pu’er City. Jiangcheng County held the annual "Fruit Festival" on Aug. 9. Locals put on their ethnic costumes and were busy picking the red fruit with the baskets.

Famous for its red color, Burmese grape looks like a giant grape or longan. Its name was given because each fruit has three cloves. The fruit can be also made into dishes to treat guests.

Local ethnic sports competitions, cross-country bicycle races and folk activities also took place during the event.
