Two century-old bakeries in Kunming

Guanshengyuan

As is observed by Kunming folks: "Where there is a Jiqingxiang, there is a Guanshengyuan."

The bakery is located in the No.16-3 store on Nanqiang Street, just a glimpse away from the Luofeng Street. Over the past decades, staff members of the two bakeries are both friends and competitors.

Compared with Jiqingxiang, the Guanshengyuan bakery looks much calmer, and most of its produces belong to traditional Chinese pastries.

Guanshengyuan features sachima with milk fan. Sachima (or saqima) is a traditional Chinese egg pasty, while the milk fan is a cheese-like fermented milk product in Yunnan province.

With exquisite cooking skills, the sachima specialty tastes soft, sweet and fragrant. While eating sachima, some think of their forefathers who didn’t have the chance to enjoy the specialty.
